  1. Belatedly, in regard to Gemini Man:
Did I ever tell you about Tatelman's Bargain Basement Bonanzas/b>?
Briefly: Harry Tatelman was an executive at MCA-Universal in the '70s, whose principal job was to figure out ways to 'repurpose' the vast amounts of film that Universal was churning out during that period - much of that being episodes of short-running TV series.
What Tatelman did was to edit together episodes of U-TV series into "features", which would then be included in MCA's packages of real features that they were selling to individual stations for use in all dayparts - bulk sales at its finest.
Any series that Universal produced during this time frame was eligible for this treatment; Gemini Man, which was dropped by NBC before its string ran out, was a prime candidate.
The way that my brother and I spotted these "features" was that Harry Tatelman would get a producer credit for shows that he'd had nothing to do with when they were made; his MCA crew was charged with spot-welding two separate hour-long episodes into a "story" with voice-overs bridging the gaps (the advantage of maintaining a contract actors list well into the '70s); MCA even did this with half-hour sitcoms, mashing as many as four episodes into "one story" (examples on request).
Sean (the aforementioned brother, now long passed on) and I started calling these "Tatelman's Bargain Basement Bonanzas" when they turned up on late-night local tv in the early '80s and beyond; later on, when the blogs came along, I started writing some of them up here and there - and now here we are ...
Actually, the first time we noticed this was when U-TV started mashing together episodes of Kolchak:The Night Stalker in this fashion for syndicated "movie" use; this was when we noticed Harry Tatelman's name for the first time, but that's another story ...
Anyway, I just thought you'd like to know, however late in the game ...
